Today is First Responders Day. A day to reflect on and appreciate the efforts and sacrifices made by our First Responders.
Brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, neighbours, friends – our First Responders are regular, everyday people just like you and I. But they all share one thing in common: an indomitable will to help those in need.
This saves lives, reunites families, and creates peace of mind. But it does not come without a cost. About 45% of Canadian First Responders develop symptoms consistent with at least one mental health disorder. Not only does this affect their lives, but also the well-being of those who support them.
The Ottawa First Responders Foundation is here to support our First Responders and their families in processing and recovering from trauma, financial hardship, and other lasting impacts resulting from their line of duty.
In the spirit of First Responders Day, we invite you to make a contribution towards our cause and take part in supporting the members of our very own community.
